On December 10, 2009, Suddenlink announced that a new nationwide investment program will soon bring faster Internet speeds and eventually other service enhancements to Rocky Mount and surrounding communities served by Suddenlink.
|
The company has embarked on a three-year, companywide program calling for $350 million of capital investments above and beyond the company’s traditional capital spending levels. That program also includes a major upgrade in facilities that will bring even more service options in 2010 and 2011.
As part of the program, starting later this month and completing early next year, Suddenlink will increase speeds for its Internet services, with no change in price. The current services – with download speeds up to 1, 8 and 12 Mbps – will be increased up to 1.5, 10 and 15 Mbps, respectively, and be renamed accordingly: Suddenlink High Speed Internet 1.5, 10.0 and 15.0.
Customers subscribing to the new 10.0 and 15.0 packages will also enjoy upload speed increases, from 512 kilobits per second (Kbps) up to 1 Mbps; and from 768 Kbps up to 1.5 Mbps, respectively.
Next year, Suddenlink will begin a major upgrade of its facilities serving Rocky Mount and the surrounding area. Preliminary work will begin next year. As that upgrade progresses through the end of 2010 and into early 2011, Suddenlink will introduce new services and enhance others. These services will include even faster Internet speeds, more high definition (HD) TV channels, and Video on Demand (VOD).
